Things to do in Mexico – by We Love Holidays

Mexico is a great holiday destination with many things to do and see. Eating taco’s, drinking tequilas and eating the worm (or not) sounds like an amazing adventure! We have searched the internet far and wide for the most fun and exciting things to incorporate into your next trip! Have a read below about the top five things to do in Mexico curated by We Love Holidays.

1. Visit MUSA – Mexico’s Underwater Museum

Why go to a normal indoor museum made of bricks and mortar; when you can submerge yourself into the Gulf of Mexico and head down to MUSA, the Cancun Underwater Museum. Situated between Cancun and Isla Mujeres, over 450 statues are on display for your perusal and as intriguing as they all are, there’s also an environmental reason as to why they are there. A British sculptor called Jason deCaires Taylor created these statues to behave as an artificial reef. It is to encourage coral growth and to tempt tourists away from the natural more sensitive coral nearby. Fascinating and eco-friendly – a definite must see in our eyes.

2. Learn to drink Tequila the Mexicana way

Tequila is to Mexico what hot dogs are to New York – another one of those things that really should be experienced on home turf. And should you become enthralled by the local tipple, then head to the ‘Tequila Herradura Sensory Museum’. The tour takes you through the history of the Herradura tequila, the distillation process and the proper way to swig it (hint: it’s not straight from the bottle!).

3. ‘Take Off’ at JetPack Cancun

If you haven’t seen the endless paparazzi shots of celebrities trying out the Jetpack whilst on holiday this past summer then we don’t know where you’ve been! The likes of Leonardo Dicaprio and Tony Parker have been getting in on the action and have clearly been loving it! Being propelled 30ft up and out of the water does sound like a hell of a lot of fun, so it’s time to make like Iron Man and jet.

4. Swim with Dolphins in Mexico!

Swimming with one of the world’s most beautiful creatures in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea – you really can’t top that, can you? So, whether you’re awarded with a kiss on the cheek, a friendly hand shake or you’re just carted around by your new friends for a little while, you’ll be making memories you’re unlikely to forget. And if you’re really, really lucky you’ll be treated to their famous high-speed belly ride, sending you soaring through the water.

5. Horse riding through the Riviera Maya Jungle

It’s time to don your riding boots and cowboy hat, holidaymakers, because today you’re on a mission to get closer to nature. Once saddled up and ready to go, you’ll be guided through the intriguing jungle paths of the Riviera Maya. This peaceful journey will allow you to take in all the scenery and sounds this nature strip has to offer, whilst learning a bunch of fun facts about the exotic birds and animals who have taken up residence here.

While planning your next trip learn some Mexican words! It will have you speaking like the locals in no time.
