Avoid wearing revealing clothing when visiting temples and refrain from using your left hand for handshakes or giving and receiving anything. Like anywhere in South East Asia, calmness is admired so ‘keep your cool’ when bargaining or if things are not going according to plan.
When it comes to transport it is advised to negotiate taxi fare before the journey commences as many taxis are not metred. Motorcycles can be hired but road and traffic conditions can be somewhat hazardous.
