Thailand

With a coastline of approximately 3219 km long and 1430 islands, there is no shortage of romantic sunsets, exquisite beaches, magnificent snorkeling, diving and scenic sailing in Thailand. Although known for its perfect combination of pristine beaches and affordability, Thailand is a treasure trove of varied exotic landscapes and adventurous activities.  Strewn with intricate temples Thailand offers visitors a welcome glimpse into its cultural and religious rituals and festivities.

To the north, the country boasts hillsides of dense bamboo forests and lush greenery where one can interact with Thai elephant, hike enchanting paths and savour open air spa pampering.  The south with its tropical islands is a beach utopia, encompassing a wealth of never-ending day- and night-time entertainment.

Whether north or south, coast or city centre, visitors can be assured of authentically delicious cuisine.  Any visit to Thailand is deemed incomplete without roaming the local markets, relishing spicy street foods and sipping sundowners along palm-lined beaches.

TOP REASONS TO VISIT THE LAND OF SMILES

To be honest, we can’t imagine why you would not want to go to Thailand.  Most visitors seek shimmering beaches and sunshine, of which there is plenty.  Whether relaxing in a hammock on a remote island or enjoying the hustle on one of Phukets popular shorelines, Thailand has the perfect beach to suite your holiday style.

Others embrace a journey of self-discovery, yoga and pampering tranquility.  Adventurists enjoy a playground of oceans, jungles and forests in which to swim, dive, paddle and hike.  City slickers champion an adventure of a different kind in Bangkok’s shopping mecca where days can be spent browsing, spending and planning on how to manage the ‘extra baggage’ on one’s flight home.

Schedule your trip around one of Thailand’s many exciting festivals for an exceptionally memorable occasion.  The most popular and internationally attended is the Songkran Festival in mid-April which washes away all the bad spirits and celebrates the traditional Thai New Year.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL?

Beach, hike or party…don’t let the rain ruin your stay.  November to February is Thailand’s cool season with the most sunshine and least rain making it the ideal time to plan your holiday.  December can get overcrowded and pricey, so we recommend November, January and February to get the best out of the weather and your budget.

The hot season (March to May) and wet season (June to October) can get very humid and unpleasant if you are not used to tropical climate, however sites are less crowded and generally there are fantastic low season deals available over this time.  If you are visiting remote areas access may be limited due to heavy rains and hiking may not be suitable in forest areas over mid-year periods.

OUR THAILAND TRAVEL ADVICE

It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Thailand, especially over peak season.  If time allows, we recommend taking the scenic route.  Plan your itinerary to allow yourself stops in towns and regions that you may not have visited otherwise. Every region in Thailand has its own unique discoveries, so break up your trip, slow down and enjoy the less traveled road.

To get the most out of your trip, explore to your hearts content, try new things, but also be aware of general health and safety.  Be mindful of hygienic conditions during food preparation, especially in markets and rural areas and stick to drinking bottled water.

PLANNING YOUR THAI ITINERARY

If art, culture, and holistic discovery is your cup of tea, the north of Thailand is the perfect place for you.  Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are lush mountainous regions brimming with authentic temples, market stalls, street-food vendors, and yoga studios.

A must-visit for those who thrive on the excitement of city life is Bangkok – the city that never sleeps.  With a large choice of accommodation, luxury hotels, shopping and rooftop bars, this is where history and hustle collide.

With so many beaches to choose from it can be hard to pick the right one for you.  Koh Samui Island is home to the best luxury resorts, Koh Lipe is a romantic paradise, and Koh Tao is popular amongst divers.  Phuket is the bustling and commercial life of the party.  Why not do a little island-hopping with one of our most popular travel packages and skip the FOMO.

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS FOR ALL BUDGETS

Whether you’ve got the extended family in tow or embarking on a solo adventure, Thailand has a resort for you.  With such a large influx of visitors, Thailand offers an overwhelming choice of beach resorts, boutique suites, business-centered hotels, and luxury villas.  There are options for every budget and although all-inclusive packages are not common here, there are increasingly more resorts that offer the whole enchilada.    Our experts can recommend the perfect option for you.  We know which resort provides the best nightlife, the best secluded beaches, where to experience luxury spa treatments and where to get the perfect views.

FASCINATING ACTIVITIES AND ADVENTURES

Besides lazy beach days, shopping and visiting intriguing age-old temples, Thailand boasts a plethora of fascinating activities.  Take a speedboat trip to Ang Thong Marine Park, consisting of 40 islands, to snorkel, swim and kayak amongst breath-taking marine life.  Canoe down the river through the evergreen forest of Khao Sok National Park or white-water raft for a slightly more exhilarating adventure in the jungle.

Visit ancient ruins, palaces and hilltribe villages and truly immerse yourself in the culture by taking a traditional Thai cooking class, set amidst mountains and rice paddies.  Furthermore, see the Golden Triangle where the border of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet, witness enormous golden statues at the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and ride a boat through the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.
