The floor to ceiling thatched roofs are intricately woven with locally thatched grasses to create a perfectly insulated room; keeping guests cool in the summer months as well as warm in the chilly winters. Each of the 6 suites battlefields lodge suites has a name after the mountain that it overlooks; making one’s balcony an ideal place to relax as well as appreciate the rugged beauty of this historically rich area.
This intimate 12 bed lodge is situated on the 2000 hectare community owned Isibindi Eco-Reserve a stone’s throw from the historically momentous Anglo-Zulu Battlefields of Rorke’s Drift as well as Isandlwana.
The reserve is home to abundant plains game. Morning and evening game drives as well as walks are on offer and there are excellent birding opportunities.
Isibindi Zulu Lodge offers the rare opportunity of learning about the Zulu culture and traditions as they remain in Zululand today.
There are six Beehive Suites, which draw inspiration from the architecture of surrounding Zulu villages. Each room bears the Zulu name of the mountain that it overlooks. All rooms have spectacular views of the Isibindi Eco-Reserve and are also in the indigenous gardens to give guests privacy to enjoy the peaceful surrounds. The high thatched roofs are a work of art and offer wonderful insulation in both winter and summer. Rooms can be either double or twin and one extra stretcher type beds can be put in the room to accommodate children under 18 years. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with bath or shower, some have both. Tea and coffee making facilities, overhead fans, safes and hair dryers are provided in each room. These unique suites are the ideal Zululand accommodation.
