Are you a beach bum or babe? if youre anything like us and you base your next holiday destination on the best beaches- you’ll be interested to know who Tripadvisor voted the #1 Beach in the World for 2014…
Firstly, being proudly South African, lets start with our one and Only Camps Bay Beach, Cape Town which won # 24 spot in the world and count our way up to number 1.
Best time to go: November – April
Just up Kloof Nek Road from the center of town is this thriving beach community. Plenty of trendy nightclubs, shops and cafes bring diners and shoppers, while tranquil seas and fine white sand draw sun worshippers and swimmers.
Voted# 22 is Cable beach, Broome, Australia.
Western Australia’s most famous beach is one of the most beautiful in the world, with turquoise waters and impeccable white sand. Broome is 692 mi from Darwin Airport (Darwin, Australia).
The beaches of tropical Broome aren’t just beautiful—they’re historic. The white-sand Cable Beach is named for an undersea telegraph cable that was laid in the late 1800s, connecting Broome to Singapore.
# 21 Anse Source d’argent , La Digue Island Seychelles.
Anse Source D’argent is probably the loveliest of all Seychelles beaches, one because it is open to everyone, locals and tourists alike and it’s sheer photogenic qualities are almost indescribable. The shimmer of the sun on the crystal in the rocks is breath taking and this applies when you’re on the sand or stood in the sea.
Getting here is easy although it will cost you entry into L’Union estate, but you’d have to be crazy not to pay the entry price. You get the wonders of the estate and this dream beach,
Every Seychelles itinerary should include a visit here!
#17 Elafonissi Beach, Italy.
Beat time to go May-October. “Breathtakingly beautiful. The water is crystal clear and the sand displays tones of pink from seashells“.
Elafonissi is 93 miles from N. Kazantzakis Airport (Heraklion, Greece). KLM flies a non stop flight to Heraklion on a Friday and Sunday. Average airfare from Johannesburg approx R9200 including taxes.
# 15 Playa de las Catedrales, Ribadeo, Spain
Best time to go July – September. “Not to be missed”. Ribadeo is 277 mi from Barajas Airport (Madrid, Spain). Top rated hotels include Hotel Mi Norte, O Cabazo and Hotel Casona de Lazurtegui.
# 11 Playa Paraiso beach, Cayo Largo, Cuba
“you need to go see this beach is so nice”. As the names suggest, these beaches are extraordinary in every way. Deep, fluffy, ghost white sand surrounded by crystal clear water. Neither beach has any hotels as they are maintained in a natural state as part of a nature preserve. Paraiso’s name is well deserved (“paradise beach”). Its waters are shallow and calm and you can walk for hundreds of meters out to sea in warm waist deep perfect blue…
There are few beach umbrellas at Playa Paraiso but not much natural shade. There is also a small bar/snackbar that offers food, drinks and alcohol for a small price.
# 7 Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles. “Picture perfect in every way. Gorgeous beach and the bluest water ever!” This popular beach boasts beautiful white sand and clear turquoise water; a sheltered cove is ideal for snorkeling.
#5 Witehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island.” Absolutely spectacular. Nothing but pure, pristine beach. Shallow, warm, clear water.” Uninhabited Whitsunday Island is home to this beautiful beach, one of the world’s most spectacular. Whitsunday Island is 160 miles from Townsville Airport (Townsville, Australia).
# 1 Beach in the World for 2014 goes to none other than the Baia do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil.
“Truly spectacular, from the walkway on the cliff above and on the beach itself. Idyllic”
So to Summarise it looks like other than our own lovely mother city the best places to find the world best beaches would be Seychelles or South America. Call is now for a quote….
